Kheyechish? (Ate?)

KHEYECHISH?

Have you eaten?

KHEYECHISH? begins with a question we grow up hearing every day and unfolds into a darkly funny and deeply intimate theatre experience set in a metro city.

The play follows a young woman who reflects on her own hunger shaped by chosen migration alongside her grandmothers hunger shaped by forced migration and famine. Across generations the play explores how displacement work debt dignity and memory shape what we eat how we eat and what food comes to mean.

With live cooking on stage the play brings stories of survival into the present through Alu Posto and Phena Bhaat dishes carrying histories of scarcity migration and memory.

Inspired by Bertolt Brechts poem The Shopper KHEYECHISH is a play about hunger hustle home and the quiet inheritances we carry with us.
